Without door hinges a mere act of going to the bathroom would require so much effort that you want to go to open the door well in advance as opening and closing of the door would be a painstaking task. Hinges are an integral part of architecture. Let us look at something as simple as a wooden box with an attached lid. It opens easily because of the hinges. Hinges are primarily used for doors and if you are considering renovating your home or building one from scratch you might want to think about installing long lasting and secure door hinges. Homes with children need doors with hinges for security purposes.
The new slow-close attachments only need to be added to one hinge per cabinet door unless you have large pantry doors. In such cases it is advisable to install two units per door. They will not work on just any European hinge though. You must have the correct straight-arm hinge brand and model number in order to be able to add the attachment to them. The hydraulic apparatus is sold as a separate piece from the hinge and clips on after the doors have been completely adjusted. To determine if the clip-on accessory is available for your existing hinge brand remove a hinge from your cupboard door and visit your local cupboard manufacturing supply company.
For example you can get ones that are made from brass that have a lovely polished finish or others that are crafted out of bronze that feature an oil rubbed finish that is a deep maroon color perfect for a house that has more of an antique type look going on throughout it. Door hinges can be made from other materials as well including stainless steel copper and aluminum to name a few. Alone each is pretty pleasing to the eye but the different finishes that they have can make them even that much more beautiful. Some of those finishes include Venetian bronze satin nickel polished chrome burnished brass bright nickel dull chrome and a slew of others.
