Most people choose a sliding glass door as entrance to their patio garden or swimming area. Here are several reasons why homeowners and business owners should replace their conventional door with custom made sliding glass door: · In terms of security reasons threshold can provide maximum security compare to other types of doors. Traditional types of thersold can be easily opened with the use of a hinge. This kind of glass doors is secured using a latch. This latch will make it very hard for intruders to open your entrance door. · For places with limited spaces sliding glass threshold can add space in any house or buildings. This type of door is often for condominiums and apartments. It can reduce the obstruction cause by swinging doors.
They are known to flake and chip when exposed to sunlight and are often cited for creating more work than the protection provided. These low quality 2 or 3 mil. tapes often leave a sticky adhesive residue on thresholds as the adhesive used in the tapes softens in warm temperatures. Another option is to use fitted threshold protection made from molded plastic. The molded plastic threshold protectors are designed to protect the most common types of thresholds in residential or commercial construction. They are the most durable type of threshold protection and can be used for multiple projects.
This calculation is based on the specification of the double glazing together with the profile design and dimensions to determine the insulation benefits of the door measured in U-values with the lower the value the better the insulation achieved. The minimum acceptable under current building regulations for replacement doors is a 1.8 U-value but some local authorities will insist on lower values particularly for new build extensions. 2. GLASS SIGHT LINES Another important consideration should be the sight line or width of door profiles between each panel of the folding sliding door as this will affect the visible glass area available when the door is in the closed position. Most bifold doors are designed with dedicated profiles to minimise these sightlines as much as possible but some timber and many upvc folding doors use wide chunky profiles that produce very broad sight lines in excess of 200mm wide that will ultimately spoil your view.
Then re-assemble door system and re-shim into the indexed positions in the rough opening. At last now fasten jambs to the cinderblock with the masonry screws using shims at each screw location. Fine tune screw adjustments by wedging the shims to get the reveals around the door even. Adjust top and bottom jamb shims as necessary. Open and close door to check touching the weather stripping evenly top to bottom for any possible jambs twist. Some slight remaining jambs twist can be adjusted by persuading the jambs with a block and a hammer. Be careful. Now nail the shims permanently in position with a pneumatic nail gun shooting squarely into the cinderblock. Dont worry the nails should sink into the cinderblock as long as they are the proper length and are nailed squarely and firmly.
