Door Hinges / October 11, 2018 / Yvette Guerette
I am sure that you know what door hinges are but you probably just think that they are the reason why the door opens and closes. While this is true there is a another purpose for door hinges. Door hinges can also do more than squeak they can be used to make your door look nicer. Hinges much more noticeable when they look bad but when they look good you dont know why the door might look as good as it does. This is truly an eye catching piece of door hardware but without the grasp or understanding that you are actually noticing it. Let me explain this its as if your spouse got a haircut you notice that they look different but you just cant seem to put your figure on the change. The only difference here is that the door wont yell at you your spouse will.
You can use cooking oil for the same purpose as well if you dont have any WD-40 but this wont solve the problem for long! WD-40 is available in a lot of countries at the moment and it can be found just about anywhere such as hardware grocery or convenience stores. As you can see door hinges are very easy to maintain and the process doesnt require a lot of your time! Door hinges have a thankless job. For most of their mundane lives they simply swing back and forth holding the door securely in its frame. Occasionally they strain as children swing back and forth on the door handles. Other times they shudder to a sudden stop as a door is thoughtlessly slammed.
The pin can be outfitted with balls or finials for a decorative touch. Similar to the butt hinge but used only on flush doors; doors that rest within the frame are butterfly hinges. These cabinet door hinges are also constructed with two flaps with screw holes held together by a pin. The difference is these hinges are mounted on the outside of the door and frame giving your cabinet a decorative touch. They are available in several styles to suit your taste ranging from colonial to art deco and more. Pivot hinges are made for overlay doors which are doors that rest over the door frame.
