Garage door insulation is essential with wooden doors as you cannot allow any water to get in to penetrate the wood. You must have a high quality threshold sealant to help prevent rotting and severe damage to your door. The great thing about using wood though is that if it does endure wear and tear over the years it can be reconditioned without the need to replace the entire door. The most used type of door however is the steel door. You will see this one on most garages across America. Steel is extremely strong and robust and is impervious to rust. This gives you great peace of mind that the door will last for many years to come.
The front entryway including the door jambs and threshold is the focal point of your clients home. It sets the tone and expectation for the rest of the home and it can add or detract curb appeal. Entryways have been important dating as far back to the Greeks. According to Jesse Nevins of Coastal Carolina University "To ancient Greeks doors were considered sacred and surrounded with superstition. So much so that doors and the comprising parts had their own deities. For the Greeks a door was not simply a way to enter a building but a holy place itself worthy of the highest respect." Keeping doors jambs and thresholds looking great while a home is under construction or remodeling is important and is now easier than ever.
Ive learned by the hard way of experience that its necessary to remove old existing jambs carefully. If directly fastened to masonry with cut nails jambs removal may break out the cinderblock unless the jambs are cut into short manageable lengths. An out of level concrete threshold step can be ground flat by a concrete cutting subcontractor or the door threshold can be adjusted by unscrewing and repositioning in the jamb by the amount out of level. Any attached brickmold and casing must be removed from the jambs to make installation easier with shimming. Also brickmold will probably have to be ripped in width to fit the overall brick opening width and height.
