Door Hinges / October 11, 2018 / Yvette Guerette
The door which is adorned at the main entrance of a house needs to be particularly secure as children often want to run out of the house at the slightest chance. Again coming back to commercial purposes you should more careful about coordinating the door knobs with the hinges. This gives a good impression about you and your organization. It shows that you are willing to go that extra mile for your clients as your interiors depict that you care about the image that youre projecting and it is a definite plus. If you were to look for door hinges in the market you would be baffled by the variety.
These were large tapestries that were hanging in front of a big hole in the wall. They would block the entryway to a room and had to be pushed out of the way every time you wanted to go in or out. Going further back in time were large rocks that would have to be rolled in front of the door and then rolled away or pieces of wood that were pulled in front of the doorway and pushed back every time you wanted to go in and out. While it did the general job of a door it was a very inconvenient and very heavy way to go. These images illustrate why we should be thankful that someone finally came up with the great idea to make a more easy to use access to a room namely a door on door hinges.
Amongst all the different door hinges out there one of the most common types is the butt hinge. It is two leaves with screw holes held together by a pin or a rod. Both leaves are recessed one end into the door and the other into the frame. When the door is closed all you see is the pin. With this type of door hinge it is easy to take the door down because all you have to do is remove the pin. Another type of door hinge that is similar to a butt hinge is the butterfly hinge. It also has two flaps or leaves held together by a pin but instead of being recessed into the door and frame they are mounted on the outside and when opened have the appearance of a butterfly in flight. These door hinges are highly decorative ranging in style from colonial to art deco and are used only on flush doors usually for cabinets. T-strap door hinges are more commonly seen on garage doors or boxes because they lift up rather than out.
